ABOUT
CHRIS CARRROLL

Life is but a dream.

Born and raised in Seattle, Filipino-American producer/singer-songwriter Chris Carroll creates throwback lofi pop music over sample-heavy boom bap instrumentals, with occasional acoustic and mainstream pop patinas.

In 2019, following minor acclaim under his former moniker Spoke, and his debut single, collage ballad "Lost", Chris Carroll released his second single, "Edge of the Earth" alongside Art-Pop Indie Label Manimal Vinyl Records (Warpaint, Yoko Ono, Bat For Lashes, Moby).

He is currently producing projects for long-time collaborator/lyricist Entendres; breakout emcee Hapa heavyweight Gifted Youngstaz; Oakland-based emcee/educator MADLines; and Seattle-based hip-hop virtuoso Messiah Jenkins.

Since 2020, Chris Carroll has consistently released a campaign of solo singles, with his signature time-bending crooning interlaced with a collage of genres, featuring the live drumming of Argentinian jazz stalwart drummer Fer Moreno, a handful of which have been featured on heavy rotation on Seattle’s renowned public radio station KEXP 90.3FM.

Alongside his partner, artist Rachel Strodtbeck, Chris has ventured into the world of visual storytelling, producing DIY music videos at home peri-pandemic, seeking to bring his aural dream worlds to life through his love for cinema. Like dreams within dreams. “The Healer” a trip-hop psych ballad is an homage to French films. “Cuts Without A Knife” a poet’s anthem told through the eyes of a spy. “Bloodsugar” an upbeat cinematic indie pop duet and a surrealist kaleidoscopic adventure. “True Lies” is Roy Orbison meets lowrider soul storied through a gritty city walk in black & white.

Chris Carroll will be releasing his first animated music video, for fan-favorite single “Ghost” illustrated by Northwest-based animation team Chase Kelly & Kody Cox in late June.

In 2021, after the death of his 98 year old grandmother, a classically trained Opera singer, Chris released a surprise EP simply titled Lola (which means grandma in Tagalog) honoring her life and how she instilled the love of music in him. Featuring 2 original songs, and covering the Rodgers-Hammerstein classic “You’ll Never Walk Alone” & Bjork’s “Hyperballad”.

July sees the release of two more singles from Chris in his signature throwback style with Fer Moreno on drums, “Rose Colored Glasses” & “Lover & Fighter”.
